What is iSpark?

MIT iSpark is an opportunity for students to learn new skills and apply them to designing innovative solutions to real-world problems in India.

iSpark 2021 is a student-led program that engages Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) students to work with their peers in India to identify and address (systems level) public health challenges in India through innovation, technology and design. iSpark 2021 will be held in Bangalore, India and is broken into a virtual makerseries and a design workshop (in-person in India or virtual).

Mission

Our mission is to ignite innovative and analytical thinking to address pressing and emerging needs in India. In addition, we aim to spread the MIT culture of innovative thinking to students in India.

Makerseries

During the two-month long makerseries, students will be taught how to use several maker tools including coding and CAD rendering. The participants will then apply the skills to the design workshop.

Design Workshop

In a two-week workshop, teams composed of MIT students and their peer Indian students will work together to design a solution to a challenge statement provided by an NGO partnered with iSpark.
